The Plenary Session will feature a keynote address by Timothy Caulfield , professor of Health Law and Science Policy and best-selling author.

ATS 2023 kicks off with the Opening Ceremony, featuring a keynote address by Stephen K. Klasko, MD , MBA . During his

career he has been dean at two medical colleges (Drexel and University of South Florida), president of a University (Thomas Jefferson University) and CEO of two academic health systems (USF health and Jefferson Health). The Opening Ceremony also features: • AT S President Greg Downey, MD , ATSF , will provide an update of the Society’s major accomplishments for the past year and priorities for the coming one; • The latest class of ATS Fellows and Research Program awardees will be recognized; and • Presentation of several ATS Respiratory Health Awards: Public Service Award , World Lung Health Award , Jo Rae Wright Award for Outstanding Science and the J. Randall Curtis Humanism Award . RECOGNITION AWARDS for SCIENTIFIC ACCOMPLISHMENTS Monday, May 22 2:15 – 3:45 p.m. Walter E. Washington Convention Center Room 202A (Level 2) As part of the ATS Respiratory Health Awards, the Recognition Award for Scientific Accomplishments recognizes outstanding scientific research contributions in basic or clinical arenas to enhance the understanding, prevention and treatment of respiratory disease, critical illness, or sleep disorders and recognizes exemplary professionalism, collegiality and citizenship through mentorship and scientific involvement in the ATS community.

SUNDAY RESPIRATORY HEALTH AWARDS CEREMONY Sunday, May 21 4:30 - 5:30 p.m. Walter E. Washington Convention Center Hall E (Level 2) The Amberson Lecturer , Trudeau Medalist and Distinguished Achievement awardees will be honored. The Respiratory Health Awards recognize outstanding contributions and achievements in pulmonary disease, critical care and sleep health. For all awards, there is a special emphasis on efforts that have the potential to eliminate health disparities. numerous academic, science communication, and writing awards, and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada and the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences. The Plenary Session also will include the ratification of the 2023-2024 slate of officers as well as remarks from outgoing president Greg Downey, MD, ATSF , and incoming president M. Patricia Rivera, MD, ATSF . In addition, four awards will be presented, including: • Outstanding Educator Award • Research Innovation and Translation Achievement Award • Outstanding Clinician Award • Philip Hopewell Prize for Leaders in Global Respiratory Health Timothy Caulfield is a Canada Research Chair in Health Law and Policy, a Professor in the Faculty of Law and the School of Public Health, and Research Director of the Health Law Institute at the University of Alberta. His interdisciplinary research on topics like stem cells, genetics, research ethics, the public representations of science, and public health policy has allowed him to publish over 350 academic articles. He has won
