Objectives At the conclusion of this session, the participant will be able to: • be able to apply new clinical research knowledge to clinical practice • learn new findings about key conditions in pulmonary, critical care and sleep • have new strategies to manage the care of common conditions in pulmonary, critical care, and sleep As cases and hospitalizations for COVID-19 waned over the winter, we experienced adramatic surge of other respiratory viruses, leaving us with the question: how has viral exposures, or lack thereof, influenced pediatric and adult immunity? This session will tackle topics related to viral considerations of surges; the role of airway epithelial cell barriers in viral infections; the impact of persistent viral reservoirs and the altered microbiome post COVID-19; and how the immune system may have been shaped by COVID-19 and how these impacts aging health.
